However I have been developing for myself for a little while, and trying to learn as much as I can. During this time of developing for myself I've created the projects listed below.

This is an app written in Ruby using the Rails framework. It allows the easy creation of teams and events. It allows the admin of the site to handle schools and make sure that the events are filled. The site allows schools to sign their teams up to events, get directions to the event and get event information in a way that is convenient for the teachers.

In keeping with the Vex Website, I created an iPhone-to-Mac app that allows Vex matches to be scored easier. This app allows the scorekeeper to input the data into an iPhone which sends it to the Mac. The Mac then takes the data, calculates the score and gives the event runners simple output. Instead of piles of paper, it is now contained between two simple little apps. The interfacing is done through Bonjour, and all data is sent JSON encoded.

To learn more about ruby and sinatra I built a small URL shortener. Sure it's not going to beat bit.ly but it was a fun project and I really learned the value of a No-Sql store like redis (which is what powers it).
